Dr. Robert O. Hassell is a visionary leader in higher education, driving innovation and transforming learning experiences through his expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Immersive Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, and Education Technology. With an Ed.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from Tennessee State University and a strong background in English and Humanities, Dr. Hassell brings a unique blend of technical knowledge and pedagogical insight to his roles.
As the Senior Executive Director of the TSU SMART Center Immersive Technology Division, Dr. Hassell spearheads cutting-edge initiatives that integrate AI and immersive technologies into the classroom. His passion for leveraging technology to enhance learning outcomes is evident in his work and is seen in his involvement in professional development programs like the Magic School AI Certification and Apple Teacher Certification.
Dr. Hassell's extensive experience in higher education spans various roles, including Director of Faculty Training, Writing Center Coordinator, and Adjunct Professor at institutions such as Tennessee State University, American Baptist College, and Nashville State Community College. His commitment to student success is further demonstrated through his research on teacher attitudes towards technology integration and his numerous presentations at conferences like the Tennessee Association for Student Success and Retention (TASSR).
